Live Users Pro is the "Who is online?" module for Joomla.
Having started as a simple bugfix for the original Live Users module it has outgrown its predecessor by quite a bit now.
This module for displaying the currently logged in users offers the
possibility to have gender specific layouts and additional tooltip for
showing more information among many other features...
Please note that I am currently in the process of restructuring the Live Users Pro pages for the 1.6 release. Meanwhile the contents may be poorly sorted or not available.

Live User Pro 1.7 is out supporting Joomla 1.5 natively!
What's new:
- Separate version supporting Joomla 1.5 in native mode
- Support for Fijiwebdesign's Ajax chat (sponsored by www.cingene.at )
- All new theme including a completly new custom iconset
- Serveral small changes all over the code
A few words about Live Users Pro future
To put it plain: I don't know yet. Live Users Pros developement is driven by you. I take feature requests and suggestions really seriously so your input is what makes it all happen.
There is one catch however: Right now I just don't have as much "free" time to put into this project as I would like. Being a student faced with rising tuition fees suporting myself takes priority so any donations made to support the module are very much welcomed. Also if there's a special features you always dreamed of to have on your homepage, don't hesitate to contact me. Custom modifications are not as expensive as you might think and it's also a great way to give back to the community.

I am glad to announce
that Live Users Pro 1.6 for Joomla has finally made its way to
daylight. Actually the 1.6 release has turned into a major rewrite of most of
the core code. This will not only improve server perfomance but allows for quite
a bit of new functionality in this and following versions.
Some of the new
features are:
- Module caching reduces
server load on peak times using Joomla's build in caching feature
- Support for (almost)
all popular private messaging systems
- JIM
- Missus PM
- My PMS 2x
- Primezillax
- Clexus
- Option to show the
total number of logged in users and guests
- Users can filter the
online list by gender (if enabled)
- Advanced error reports
to help you set up the module and offer assistence in case a problem
occurs
- Custom code for
userlist and tooltip
Additionally some
smaller improvements over the previous version have been
made
- HTML output is
formated cleaner than before
- CSS markup is now
fully W3C compliant (no more doublicate id's)
- Some smaller fixes in
the theme css files
- PNG's have been
converted to index transparency to enable better compatibility with older
browsers
- All files have been
renamed to reflect the name change from "Live Users" to "Live Users Pro"
allowing you to install this module side by side to eh previous version.

Unfortunalty Live Users Pro 1.6 didn't make it in time for release it before my "holydays".
This isn't bad news however. Actually the small step from 1.5 to 1.6 has turned into a major rewrite of most of the core code. This does not only improve server perfomance but allows for new functionality in this and upcoming versions as well.
To give you a glance about what you can exspect from the new release I have made the current Beta available for download. Among the new features are gender specific list sorting and module caching as well as custom list and tooltip code.
As always the newsletter will go out once the final version is released so make sure your email is in the subscription list.

 Since I will be gone for the easter week I wanted to make sure that the theme toolkit is in the hands of developers for the holydays.
Live Users Pro 1.5 will have the possibility to have fully customized themes for both list view and the tooltip.
In order to help interested developers to start with the creation of new themes I made a small toolkit containing some sample themes, a pdf with the CSS model and a HTML file with sample tooltips and a userlist.
CSS knowledge is the only thing needed for creating new themes.
